History of a unique architectural marketing project

The architectmarketingtips.com website was created and incorporated for the purpose of offering an inexpensive way for architects to benefit from the results of a decade of research and specialized marketing.

Harry Kafka is the person who lead the team that developed this specific marketing system for architectural services.

Harry Kafka states as his mission "to enhance the use of architectural design and planning in construction, to enlighten the business sector of the benefits of using an architect in their construction projects."

"It's amazing how few business owners with a dream to have their own building constructed give up their vision and buy an existing building instead," Harry Kafka explains.

"They do not realise how much they would SAVE by using an architect, let alone how much the value of their investment would increase by it being desgned by a lisenced architect," Harry Kafka says regretfully.

"Yet all business owners dream of putting their mark on the face of their city, creating a building that shows their indentity as part of the area... so why would they not use architect?" Mr Kafka asks.

"Then there's the overall desire to have the building FLOW in its spaces, design the areas so they suit the company's activity and industry... all of which are goals only an architect can make into reality for them," Harry Kafka adds.

Harry states his thinking on what the problem is: "It's really just ignorance. People think architects only design monumental landmarks and public buildings, whereas every single building can only benefit from having an architects trained artistic eye align its proportions."

"Architects are a unique combination of skills that combine exact sciences of engineering with the aesthetics of art," Harry Kafka outlines.

"And the goal of the Architect Marketing Guidelines is to create a way for an architect to make businesses understand these points," Mr. Kafka summarises.

"Funnily enough, the Architect Marketing Project started almost accidentally. In the course of running a marketing service, an architect gave us an assignment... or a challenge, rather. He was quite certain architect services could not be marketed effectively. There was no way to find new projects FIRST – and there was no way to effectively sign on new clients... and boy was he RIGHT," Harry laughs.

That's how the project started.

 

Years of research, testing and piloting

Thus, we entered a pilot marketing project. We researched the market. We interviewed clients and architects. We worked months to find what major problems clients had with starting their projects and what they really wanted from architects.

We called thousands of businesses planning to have a commercial project built to learn how to find them before they would contact an architect. Through error and success, we found a unique way to interest prospective clients beyond anything ever created for the industry.

It took quite some doing.

Once we had the system working, we piloted it for two years. Thousands of times, over and over again, until it was... well, not perfect.
